Instructor said my variable names were "a crime scene" so I changed one habit
Two months into learning Python I turned in a homework project with variables like x2, thing, and dataFinalFinal and my instructor wrote back "this reads like a crime scene, name your stuff like a human." At first I was annoyed, but then I tried reading my own code a week later and could not tell what half of it did. So now every time I make a variable I say out loud what it holds before I type it, like total_price or user_age, and it takes maybe 5 extra seconds. My last assignment came back with no comments about names at all, which honestly felt great. Does anyone else have a small naming rule they stick to, or do you just wing it like I used to?
