Warning: That free coding bootcamp in Austin was a total waste of 3 months

Signed up for a free bootcamp they advertised as 'learn to code from scratch in 12 weeks'. The first 6 weeks were just basic HTML and CSS, stuff I could've learned from a 2 hour YouTube video. Then they rushed through JavaScript in 2 weeks and expected us to build a full app. The instructor kept saying 'just Google it' when we asked questions. I dropped out after week 8. Has anyone else had a bad experience with these free programs?

Week 8 of a 12 week program and you still got "just Google it"? That's not a bootcamp, that's a library with a guilt trip. I spent 10 weeks on a similar train wreck where the Python module was literally a YouTube playlist the instructor found that morning. Free is usually just code for "you get what you pay for" in this space.

Free bootcamps are just free YouTube tutorials with extra steps and zero accountability. You get what you don't pay for, plain and simple.
