Am I the only one who likes cheap instant coffee better than fancy pour over?
I mean, I get the whole ritual thing, but last month I tried a $30 bag of single origin beans at a friend's place in Columbus and honestly? I kept wishing I had my 99 cent jar of Folgers. The pour over had this sour, almost fruity bite that everyone swore was amazing, but it just tasted thin to me. I've been driving long haul for years and my thermos of instant gets me through the same 14 hour shift as any fancy cup. Maybe my palate is just shot from gas station coffee, but I finished that expensive cup and thought, that's it? Does anyone else secretly prefer the cheap stuff or am I just not getting what the hype is about?

Shit, that sour taste gets me too! I tried some Ethiopian beans once at a shop in El Paso and it tasted like someone squeezed a lime into my coffee. But here's the thing, do you actually like the instant flavor, or is it more about the comfort of knowing exactly what you're gonna get every single time? Because I feel like that predictability is half the appeal when you're grinding out miles.
