Just realized campus speaker rules flipped at my old school between 2015 and now
Went back to my alma mater in Ohio for homecoming and flipped through the student paper, and the same speech policy that got a speaker shouted down in 2016 now has a formal protest zone and a review board. In 2016 they just canceled the event after 3 hours of yelling, no process at all. Has anyone else seen a school go from chaos to actual written rules like that, and did it help or just make everyone mad in a new way?
Did your school actually stick to those new rules once people tested them? Mine went through something close and what helped was making the protest zone real, meaning campus cops walked people to it instead of just pointing, so nobody got singled out. The yelling still happens but it stopped turning into a three hour standoff with no ending.
