Shoutout to the student paper at Kent State for printing both sides of the canceled speaker fight
Two weeks ago a speaker got pulled from a campus event in Ohio and the paper ran the protest quotes right next to the invites, which almost never happens. Has anyone else seen a student paper do this without picking a side first?
How did the paper handle the editing on that? When my school's paper tried something like this a couple years back they just ran the two interview sets back to back with almost no framing, and it actually worked pretty well. People complained either way but at least nobody could say the paper was hiding one side. The trick was keeping the quote lengths about even so it didn't look stacked, and letting the speakers' own words do the fighting instead of the writer's. Seems like Kent State pulled that off, which is rare.
