Watched a campus debate get shut down over 10 shouted words
At Ohio State last semester I went to see a conservative commentator speak. Before he even got to the podium a girl screamed "you're not welcome here" and the organizers just ended it. I stood up and told them to let him talk since we all paid to be there. They called security on me instead of the person who yelled. Has anyone else seen a whole event get killed by one loud person?

They called security on YOU for standing up? That's insane, like genuinely wild. I can't get over how the person actually causing the problem got zero consequences while you got punished. At my school someone screamed at a guest speaker and they had the audacity to say "we value everyone's voice" while dragging out the guy who wanted to hear the talk. This whole cancel culture thing is getting ridiculous when one person can ruin an entire paid event and nobody stops them.

Right? That "we value everyone's voice" line is always code for "we value the loudest person's voice." It's like schools forgot that letting one person hijack a paid event is just punishing everyone else who showed up.
