Appreciation post: The dollar bin at my local shop in Cleveland

I spent $12 on a stack of 90s X-Men issues nobody wanted and found a full backup story by a writer I never heard of. It was actually better than the main plot that month. Has anyone else struck gold digging through the cheap boxes?

Grabbed a stack of Uncanny X-Men from the 90s for like $10 at my own local shop last month and found a whole early Joe Madureira issue hiding in the middle of some random run. Nobody wanted it because the cover was all chewed up but the art inside was gorgeous. Also pulled out a backup story about the Morlocks that seriously had more heart than the main event that month. It's wild what people sleep on just because the bag is crinkly or whatever lol. Always worth the dig.

Agree to disagree on that one. I passed up a stack of beat-up 90s books last month because those chewed covers or crinkly bags almost always mean water damage or mold inside. Spent $15 on what looked like a steal once and ended up throwing half the run in the trash because the pages were stuck together. The backup stories are usually good but you can find them online for free now anyway. There is a reason people pass on damaged books and it is not just about being picky.
