Paid $40 for a signed Todd McFarlane issue and the autograph smudged on the bus ride home
Picked up a Spawn #1 signed by Todd at a local shop in Portland last Saturday. Grabbed it in a rush to catch the bus and had it in my backpack with no sleeve. By the time I got home the sharpie signature was completely blurred. Felt like a total idiot. Anyone roast themselves by ruining a grail this bad?

Used to think paying for signatures was kinda silly... thought it was just scribbles on cardboard. This story changed my mind though, because now I get it's about the moment and the story behind it. That sucks so bad, man. Backpack rides are the silent killer of collectibles, I swear. We all have that one thing we wish we could go back and sleeve before it got ruined. Hope you can find another copy someday without having to pay an arm and a leg.

My Spawn #1 signed by Capullo got a big greasy thumbprint on it the same day I bought it because I handed it to my buddy to show off before it was dry. Cost me $60 and I still look at that print and cringe every time I flip through the box. You ever try hitting it with a dry erase marker to lift the smudge?
