Spent $60 on a slab of raw comics at a flea market last weekend and got burned bad

There was a guy selling a giant box of 80s/90s comics for $60 near the back of the flea market off Route 9. Looked like a solid deal at first. Turns out the whole box was water damaged and moldy. Like, pages stuck together and smelling like a basement. I tried to salvage maybe 3 issues but the rest went straight in the trash. Anyone else get tricked by those bulk comic bins at flea markets?

Ngl, I feel your pain. Reminds me of this time I bought a bundle of 90s X-Men books off some guy on Craigslist. He said they were "gently read" but when I opened the box half of them had this weird sticky residue on the covers like someone spilled soda on them and just let it dry. I spent like an hour trying to clean them with a damp cloth and ruined like four issues. Honestly, I still get mad thinking about it. Tbh, that Route 9 flea market is always hit or miss anyway, I've seen guys there selling old Playboys with half the pages missing.

Those X-Men books sound rough, I had the same thing happen with a stack of Silver Surfer comics from a guy in Edison.
