Rant: a seized bolt on a pump intake flange cost me 4 extra hours in 38 feet of murky water
Last Tuesday at the Anacortes marina we were pulling a raw water pump off a ferry and one flange bolt was so rusted it would not budge with the impact. I burned through three carbide burrs trying to cut it by hand before my tender finally sent down a torque multiplier, and by then I had been down there almost 90 minutes on one working dive. What do you all keep in your bailout kit for frozen hardware, is there a penetrating oil that actually works underwater or am I just wasting my time?
