Just realized I've been using the wrong screwdriver on laptop screws since 2009
Last Tuesday I was working on a Dell Latitude that came in with a stripped bottom panel screw, and I grabbed my trusty #1 Phillips like always. It slipped, chewed up the head even more, and I had to drill it out. That got me thinking about how I learned this trade back in the day. My old mentor in Tulsa told me a #0 was fine for everything, and I believed him for way too long. Turns out most laptop screws are JIS, not Phillips, and they cam out if you look at them funny. I ordered a proper JIS set from Amazon for $18 and every screw since then has come out smooth. I felt like a dummy for all those years of fighting screws. Any of you still using Phillips on Japanese gear, or did you switch over like I finally did?
