Three days for a ghost printer issue, turned out to be a bad cable
Ran a job at a small law office in Cleveland last Tuesday. Their network printer kept dropping off every few hours. I replaced drivers, updated firmware, swapped the switch port. Nothing held. Finally on day three I pulled the ethernet cable out and saw the little clip was broken. It looked fine seated, but any vibration killed the link. $8 cable, 30 seconds to swap. Customer just looked at me and said "that's it?" I laughed and charged them the full service call anyway. How often do you guys check cables first or do you go down the software rabbit hole too?
