Vent: Customer asked me to 'just make it faster' and then argued with the fix
Had a guy in the shop Tuesday with a 6 year old HP laptop, said it was slow. I checked and it had 4GB RAM and a spinning drive, so I quoted him $120 for an SSD and 8GB stick. He said no, just wanted me to 'clean it up'. I did the temp file sweep, and he picked it up and called me an hour later saying it's still slow. Like, man, you can't polish a turd for free. Has anyone else had clients reject the actual fix and then complain the bandaid didn't work? What do you say to them without being rude?
