Vent: I clean thermal paste with coffee filters now, and a client's 9 year old tower finally stopped throttling
Three weeks ago a guy dropped off a 2016 prebuilt that was hitting 95C at idle and sounding like a leaf blower. I popped the cooler and the paste was dust, so I scraped it with a plastic card and wiped the die with a coffee filter and 91 percent alcohol because the shop rag left lint in a socket once. Idle dropped to 38C and he about hugged me. The filters do not shed and they are a penny each, way better than those linty blue towels. What do you all use for paste cleanup, or am I the only one raiding the break room for supplies?
