Shoutout to the foreman who showed me why I was burning my edges

I tried using a magnesium float on a big slab in Phoenix last June because I saw it in a magazine. Ended up with edges that dried out way too fast and a crusty surface that looked like a mess. The foreman walked over and said 'You gotta keep it wet and work that cream in slow, not fast like a trowel.' Has anyone else had a tool change their finish without realizing the trick to using it?

Yep, speed kills with mag floats, gotta go slow.

Grabbed a magnesium float once without wetting it first on a 90 degree day in Vegas. That thing sucked the moisture right out of the cream and left me with a patchwork of craters. Had to grind it all out and redo the pour. Never made that mistake again.
