Showerthought: I started taping my seams before mudding and it changed everything, but some guys call it extra work.
I picked up that taping first gives a smoother finish, while others say just mudding over gaps is fine, so how do you handle it?

Yeah I was in the "just mud it" camp for years, honestly. But then I tried taping first on a small repair, and the lack of cracks months later sold me. It's a few extra minutes that saves a callback later, which is worth it to me.
