Was dead set against digital measuring tools until last week

I've been a finish carpenter for 12 years and always swore by my tape and a good eye. Last week I had to fit crown molding in this old Victorian near Portland with walls that are out of square by almost a half inch. My buddy let me borrow his Bosch laser measure thing. I mean I hated how much it cost ($180) but after the third piece fit perfect on the first try I kinda had to admit it saved me like 2 hours of recutting. Has anyone else had a tool they refused to touch for years then finally gave in?

Man that crown molding in an old Victorian is no joke, I feel you. I was the same way with digital levels for years, thought they were a crutch. Then I had to hang cabinet doors on a wall that was wavy as a bad haircut. Borrowed a digital level from my neighbor and it caught a quarter inch dip I kept missing with my old bubble level. First door hung dead nuts perfect, saved me taking it down three times. Now I keep one in the truck but I still grab my old level out of habit most days.

Buddy of mine said the same thing about laser levels until his crew framed a crooked basement in one day.
