A client's damaged hair from a speedy color service changed my mind forever
She came in wanting platinum in under an hour, and I said it wasn't safe. She found someone else who promised it fast. Her hair was so brittle it started breaking off. Now I always explain the risks of rushing lightening. Protecting the hair's health is more important than a quick style.

My friend tried to go from dark brown to silver blonde in one salon visit. They used a super strong developer and kept applying heat, even when her scalp burned. A week later, her hair was snapping off above her ears and the broken pieces felt like frizzy straw. She had to cut it all short.

Ever see someone try to fix that kind of breakage? My client had damage like @the_gray's friend. We did a hard cut on the worst parts first. I used olaplex treatments every two weeks and told her to only use a deep conditioner at home, no regular shampoo for a month. She also stopped all heat styling cold turkey. It took about three months, but the new growth came in healthy and we slowly trimmed the old stuff away.

That three month timeline sounds about right. I've seen people try to rush it and just end up with more breakage. The hard cut at the start is the key step everyone wants to skip. You can't bond treatment your way out of hair that's already turned to dust. It's just damage control while you wait for the new stuff.
