Friend who paints houses said my toner application is too slow

She watched me do a root touch-up last week and said I'm wasting time being overly careful, but I've always thought precision mattered more. Has anyone else had their technique challenged by someone outside the industry and actually found they had a point?

I actually see it the opposite way. In my experience, taking it slow on a root touch-up is the difference between a clean result and a hot mess. Like when I do my own toner, if I rush and hit the previously colored hair, it goes brassy or uneven way faster. Your painter friend probably thinks speed equals efficiency, but lathering on toner without precision just means you'll be back in two weeks fixing patches. I've seen too many people end up with stripes or banding because they rushed the application. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather take an extra 10 minutes than deal with an hour of corrective color later.

Watched a time-lapse video online and sped up my routine by about 40%.
