Can we talk about that sudden gust in Cheyenne yesterday...

I was swinging a 4-ton HVAC unit into place and a 40 mph crosswind caught it, made the whole rig dance. Anyone have a good rule of thumb for wind speed and load size?

Man that sounds sketchy lol. Had a buddy lose a whole pallet of shingles off a roof in way less wind. Honestly the rule seems to be if you think it might be too windy, it definitely is.

Yeah, that'll get your attention real fast. My personal rule is if the wind can mess up my hair, it can probably mess with my lift. Learned that the hard way trying to guide a sheet of plywood that decided it wanted to be a kite instead. Now I just assume the wind is always stronger than it looks, especially up high.
