Overheard a guy at Starbucks pitching a 'time traveling barista' novel to his friend

He was dead serious. Said the main character invents a coffee machine that also jumps through history. I almost choked on my latte when he said the climax involves fixing a espresso shot for Marie Antoinette. It made me realize how many weird legit ideas are out there if you just commit to the weirdness. Anyone else ever catch a random stranger's plot that was too wild to ignore?

Ran into a buddy last week who's writing about a psychic parrot that solves cold cases.

The 1987 espresso machine that also time travels? Come on. I get committing to a bit but that's not a plot, that's a list of random things. Like what's the conflict, the foam consistency in the French Revolution? Honestly it sounds like a YouTube sketch not a novel. And the Marie Antoinette thing is so on the nose. Let the guy finish his latte in peace, he's probably not writing anything down.
