Overheard a guy in a café near Barcelona say his mom wouldn't let him eat cheese after 6 PM - turns out it's a Catalan thing about dairy being 'too heavy' at night

I was grabbing a cortado last Tuesday and this local dude was on the phone arguing with his mom about having Manchego with his dinner. Apparently in Catalan culture, eating aged cheese late is seen as bad for digestion and almost disrespectful to the meal. I always thought cheese was fine anytime, but now I'm wondering if my midnight snacking is a cultural taboo waiting to happen. Has anyone else run into weird food rules from other places?

My grandmother in Ireland said the same about potatoes after sundown.

You ever try boiling them first then letting them cool off in the fridge overnight? That always worked for me when I had that issue.
