Builder told me to stop using caulk on baseboard gaps
He said caulk shrinks too much over time. Switched to Alex Plus spackle instead. Anyone else ditch caulk for certain trim work?

Heard a buddy tried that and his baseboards looked like a disaster zone after one winter.

Ugh yeah Ive seen that happen way too many times. @cameron_owens49 your buddy probably skipped the vapor barrier or used the wrong insulation. You gotta put a proper moisture barrier down first or that cold air hits the warm baseboard and you get condensation issues everywhere. I did mine with rigid foam board and taped all the seams and it held up perfect through three winters now. Just saying, prep work matters way more than people think.
