That concrete guy's advice about rebar spacing cost me $3,000
Mark the foreman on my last project in Phoenix told me to space the rebar 18 inches apart instead of 12. I listened because he had 20 years experience. The slab cracked bad after three months and now I have to rip it out and repour. Has anyone else had a builder give bad advice that seemed solid at first?

Told my guy to double up the rebar where the driveway meets the street after seeing the same thing happen to a neighbor. Spent an extra $200 on rebar and haven't had a single crack in three years. Sometimes you gotta trust your gut over the old timers.
