Was dead set against going with a design build firm until I tried one last month
I always thought design build was just a way for builders to upsell you on finishes they had sitting around. But after our last project with a separate architect and builder turned into a 4 month delay over a window spec, I gave a firm outside Austin a shot. Has anyone else switched their opinion on this after a bad experience?

Honestly, did you feel like the communication was way better too? That was the biggest thing for me. With my separate architect and builder, it was always "talk to the other guy" whenever something came up. The design build firm had one project manager who handled everything, even the little stuff like moving an outlet. Made the whole thing feel less like a game of telephone where someone always dropped the ball. Ngl, I was skeptical too but now I get why people say it saves your sanity.

The one project manager thing saved me three weeks of back and forth on a single countertop change.
