Serious question, why does everyone say to change your password every 90 days?
Took me 11 days and a call to Apple support in Austin to figure out my old 90 day rotation habit was locking me out of my own backup codes. I switched to one long passphrase with 2FA last spring and havent been locked out since, so why is the 90 day rule still pushed everywhere?
Your Apple support story reminds me of when my old job made us rotate passwords every 60 days and half the office just started writing them on sticky notes under their keyboards. The rule was meant to stop hackers but it mostly just made everyone's info easier to find. Idk, feels like these old rules stick around way longer than they should just because nobody wants to be the one to change them.
