Vent: the guy at Canton Centre who told me the fountain was 'the heart of the mall' and then cried about a pretzel stand
I poked around the old Canton Centre in Ohio a few months back, mostly just photographing the dead escalators. This older guy in a security jacket came up and told me the dry fountain in the middle was 'the heart of this place' and pointed at the exact tile where he proposed to his wife in 1987. Then he got quiet and pointed across the hall, saying 'that was a Pretzel Twister and I ate there every Friday for 19 years.' He pulled a little worn photo out of his wallet of the two of them at that fountain. Has anyone else run into a former employee who still patrols a mall that's been closed for a decade?
