Old cash register gave out during lunch rush yesterday
Our 1980s NCR register finally died right at noon yesterday. Had to dig out the backup receipt book and do everything by hand for 45 minutes while the line wrapped around the counter. Any other shop owners here still running old equipment that's on its last legs?

Did your NCR register have that satisfying CHA-CHING sound every time you rang something up? I feel your pain, our 1990s Era Sharp cash register gave out last summer during a big dinner rush (we run a small diner). Had to grab a notepad and calculator from the back office and write down every order by hand for almost an hour while customers stood there staring at us. The worst part was trying to balance the register at the end of the night with all those handwritten slips. We finally broke down and bought a used one off eBay for $150, which has been working okay but I know it's only a matter of time before that one dies too. Old equipment is like a ticking time bomb (especially during lunch or dinner rush).
