A comment on my art made me rethink how I use color
For years, I just picked colors that looked nice together in my digital paintings. I'd use the color wheel in Procreate and call it a day. Then, about two months ago, someone left a comment on a piece I posted saying the colors felt 'flat' and didn't help tell the story. That really stuck with me. I started looking at other artists I admire and realized they use color to guide your eye and set a mood, not just to fill shapes. I was treating color like decoration instead of a tool. Now I try to pick one main color to focus on and build the rest around it, thinking about what feeling I want. It's a slow process to change my habits, but it's making a big difference. Has a single piece of feedback ever completely shifted how you approach a part of your art?

Honestly, that's a great point about color just being decoration. I got a similar comment once about my line work being too "safe" and it made me realize I was avoiding any messy energy.

Wait, someone called your line work "safe"?
