My pet peeve with Instagram art reels right now

I keep seeing digital artists post these super polished process videos with no mention of the actual brush settings or layer setup they used. It drives me crazy because half the useful info gets buried in comments or never shared at all. Last week I saw a portrait that took 12 hours and the caption just said "here's my process" with no real breakdown. Why do people hold back the details like it's a secret recipe? Has anyone else noticed this trend of showing off without teaching anything?

Respectfully disagree with you and @the_beth on this one. Holding back brush settings isn't gatekeeping, it's about protecting the hours of trial and error that went into developing that style in the first place.

its the same as those recipe blogs where you scroll forever before getting to the actual ingredients, just fluff with no substance.
