Remember when everyone said digital painting would never feel like the real thing?
I was a total skeptic for years, stuck with my actual paints. Then a client in Seattle insisted on a digital piece. I borrowed a basic Wacom tablet, just to try. After about two hours of messing with brush settings, I found one that mimicked oil texture perfectly. The undo button alone changed my whole process. Anyone else have that one tool or brush that finally won you over?

The undo button was basically a time machine for my worst mistakes. I spent more time fixing my "happy accidents" than painting before that. Finding a brush that actually left digital goop on the screen was the final nail in the coffin for my real paints.

I read an interview with a concept artist who said their undo key was worn out from overuse. They argued that digital tools let you explore ideas faster because you can erase without consequence. But they also admitted it killed the discipline of planning a brushstroke. That digital goop feeling you mentioned is a real thing. Some apps try too hard to mimic the mess of real paint and it just feels wrong. It makes you miss the simple mess of a physical palette.
