Was using too much contrast in my digital paintings for years

I always cranked the contrast up. Made my art pop. Then a client sent back a print file. They said my shadows were crushing detail. I looked at it on my tablet side by side. Lost all the texture in the dark areas. Now I check on multiple screens before finalizing. Anyone else have a bad habit that killed their prints?

Three percent contrast loss won't ruin a print unless you're selling museum pieces.

That's only true if nobody's looking closely.
