TIL my old university's subreddit started removing any post mentioning a specific professor's name last semester.

I used to check it for class advice, but now I just ask people in person after my post about his grading got taken down. Has anyone else seen a subreddit suddenly ban a topic like that?

What's the big deal with that? It's probably just to stop rumors or personal attacks. Seems like a normal moderation choice to me.

Last semester the University of Michigan subreddit started deleting any post with Professor Reynolds' name. It feels like an overreaction, Claire_Hayes35. What if students need to warn others about a genuinely unfair class policy or a grading mistake? Banning the topic just pushes those real talks to private chats where no one can fact-check anything. How does that help stop rumors better than letting people talk openly?
