Split testing landing pages, my gut lost to the data by $8k
Last quarter I ran two versions of our ad landing page. Version A was my baby, cool copy, fancy hero image. Version B was plain text and a basic form, looked like a 1998 website. I told my partner the fancy one would crush it. After 6 weeks and 12,000 clicks, the ugly one made 43 more sales. That's about $8,000 in extra revenue. Has anyone else had their design taste completely destroyed by what the numbers actually want?
