PSA: Don't trust those 'guaranteed' short-term rental deals in Medellin

I just lost $800 on an apartment I booked for a month through a local Facebook group. The photos were fake, and the place was totally unsafe (broken locks, no window screens). I had to book a hotel last minute, which blew my budget. Has anyone found a legit way to find a place there without getting scammed?

My cousin in Laureles only uses verified local rental agencies now.
