Found my old FL Studio projects from 2016 yesterday
I was cleaning out my laptop and stumbled on some beat files from when I first started making music back in 2016. The difference in how I layered my kicks and snares now versus then is wild, like night and day. Back then I just threw random samples together, but after 9 years and countless YouTube tutorials, I actually understand sidechain compression and EQ. Has anyone else gone back and cringed at their early stuff only to realize how far you've come?

That's the cool thing about sticking with something long enough. Everything you learn just builds on what you did before, whether it's music or fixing stuff around the house.

That part about "everything you learn just builds on what you did before" really hit me. I used to think each project was a fresh start but looking back you can see how every mistake taught you something that shows up later.
