Am I the only one who thinks painting trim before installing is a waste of time?

Last weekend I spent Saturday morning pre-painting all my baseboards in the garage before nailing them up in the living room. By Sunday the paint got scuffed from dragging them through the hallway, and I had to touch up every single board anyway. My buddy says doing it after install is messy but way faster since you only need one coat. I'm leaning toward his way for the next room, but the idea of cutting in against fresh trim sounds awful. Has anyone else tried both and found a clear winner?

Tried it both ways and I'm with you actually, painting after install saves way more time...

Did you catch that YouTube video where the guy tested both methods side by side?
