Question about the time I tried to fix a squeaky floorboard with a can of WD-40
I sprayed it directly on the wood in my hallway yesterday, and now my entire house smells like a mechanic's garage and the floor is still squeaking.

That's a classic move, we've all been there. Did you try to get the WD-40 into the actual joint where the board rubs on the nail, or just on the top surface? The smell should fade, but it might take a few days of open windows. In my experience, you usually need to find the exact spot and use something like powdered graphite for a real fix.

You sprayed WD-40 on a squeaky floor inside? That smell is going to linger for ages, man. I can't believe you'd use that stuff indoors.
