My parallel bar jammed up right before a deadline yesterday

Ha! Now you'll be side-eyeing that bar forever, right?

Why does nobody talk about using old coffee grounds for fabric dye?

Eyeing my tea bags" yeah I get that. Last week I tried dying some old white socks with leftover black tea and they came out looking like I'd been walking through a muddy puddle for a month. Not bad, just not what I was going for. @taylor_flores had the right idea though, I bet blue would work better. My grandma used to do something similar with onion skins for a gold color, smelled like soup for days.

Took me 6 months to realize my budget app was double counting my savings transfers

Oh totally, I threw my phone and hit my cat. She still gives me the side-eye about it.

Picked cable housing vs. just replacing the cables on a 90s mountain bike

I read somewhere that old housing from the 90s actually had a different liner material inside, something like nylon or maybe even just plain plastic. That stuff gets brittle and develops micro-cracks after like 25 years in the sun, which is why you get that sticky feeling even if the cable itself looks fine. I've seen people rebuild entire drivetrains and still have crap shifting until they finally swap the housing out. It's honestly kind of wild how much a few bucks of jagwire can fix a bike that feels totally dead.

Got a reality check from an old timer about my drafting layers

Disagree a bit here. Layers arent just about organization, theyre about workflow speed. I can toggle off notes, dimensions, or existing conditions in two clicks without hunting through a cluttered drawing. Your old timer kept it clean with 4 layers because he had to, that wasnt a choice it was a limitation back then. I do think 17 is probably overkill but somewhere in the middle like 8 to 10 is the sweet spot where youre not wasting time but still have control.
