That magnetic paint I tried in my hallway turned out to be a dust magnet
I painted a small section of my entryway with magnetic paint last month to hang notes and keys without drilling holes, and it worked for about a week before the surface started attracting every bit of dust and pet hair that floated by. I wiped it down three times and it looked grimy again within hours, which kinda defeats the whole purpose of a quick-access wall. Has anyone found a clear topcoat or sealant that stops the magnetism from pulling in all that junk?

Wait did you buy the cheap stuff or the brand name? Honestly I had the same problem with my fridge door and I ended up just using a clear acrylic spray sealer from the hardware store and it helped a bit but not completely. Ngl the dust thing is just part of the deal with magnetic paint I think, like the iron particles are gonna attract stuff no matter what you put on top. Tbh I gave up and just stuck a whiteboard magnet sheet over it instead, way less hassle.

Oh man, @palmer.zara you're totally right about the dust thing lol. But just a heads up, the iron particles in magnetic paint don't actually attract dust, it's more that the paint texture is rough and grabs dirt. I learned that the hard way when I tried wiping mine down and it just smeared everywhere!
