That moment my drywall anchor spun free and took a chunk with it
Was hanging shelves in my laundry room in Austin on Tuesday, thought I drilled the pilot hole straight but the anchor just chewed through the cheap 1/2 drywall and dropped the whole bracket. Ended up patching with a 6 inch piece of scrap wood behind the hole and screwing directly into that instead, took about 20 extra minutes. The shelf is up now and holds my detergent jugs fine, but I keep wondering if I should have just used toggle bolts from the start. Has anyone else had better luck with those metal snap toggles versus the plastic ones for heavy loads?
