Tried to fix a leaky bathroom sink. Made it way worse.

Last weekend I was under my sink in Denver. Tightened the p-trap too hard and cracked it. Water sprayed everywhere, soaked the cabinet. Had to run to Home Depot at 8pm for a new one. Anybody else ever turn a small fix into a bigger mess?

Had a buddy try to swap a toilet flapper once and accidentally snapped the whole fill valve off. Water just kept running until he figured out where the shutoff was. Took him like an hour to find it. Couldn't stop laughing at him, but honestly I've done the same kind of thing.

Ngl I used to think plumbing stuff was just common sense, like how hard could it be to swap a little rubber part? But seeing that story honestly changed my mind. I figured everyone knew where their water shutoff was, turns out half the folks out there have no clue until they're standing in a puddle. It's humbling for sure, makes me realize nobody's born knowing this stuff. Yeah I get why your buddy panicked, I'd probably be the same way.
