My neighbor insisted I needed a 4-foot level for tiling my bathroom floor

I thought my 2-footer was fine, but after the first row went down crooked, I had to run back to the hardware store. Has anyone else had a simple tool tip save a whole project?

My old boss used to say any level under 3 feet was just a fancy straight edge. I argued with him for years until I tried tiling a kitchen backsplash with my little one. The long level showed a dip in the wall I never would have caught. It completely changed how I start any tiling job now.

Long levels are a game changer for finding those hidden wall bumps.

So when you found that dip with the long level, did you have to change your whole layout plan for the backsplash? Like, did you have to start the tiles in a different spot or use more adhesive to make up for it? I'm trying to picture how you fix a problem like that once you see it.

Ever try to hang a long picture frame without a level? Tbh I used a book once and it was so crooked. Now I just borrow my neighbor's 4-footer for everything.
