Just shifted my takeoffs from paper to a $20 tablet stylus
I used to print out every set and hand-scale with a wheel, then punch numbers into a calculator. A month ago I dug up an old tablet and tried a stylus with a PDF markup app, now I do the same takeoff in maybe 40 minutes instead of 2 hours. The trick was learning to zoom to 100% and trace with the pen held like a real pencil. Anyone else ditch the wheel yet, or am I the only one still finding toner on my desk?

Commiserating hard with the toner on the desk, I still find little blue smudges on my mouse pad from last month. The 100% zoom trick is the real game changer, once I started doing that my accuracy got way better too. I kept the wheel around for a while as a backup, but honestly it just sits in a drawer now collecting dust. Took me a solid week to trust the stylus enough to stop double-checking every line with the old method, but now I'd never go back.
