Shared a layering trick at a Tacoma meetup and it backfired spectacularly
I brought my hatch pattern library to the local drafter meetup last Thursday and did a quick 10 minute demo on using layer states to swap between structural and MEP views. About 12 people were nodding along, but then one guy from a civil firm raised his hand and said my whole setup was overcomplicated because they just use xrefs with visibility states. I tried to defend it, and while I was talking I accidentally hit the hotkey that turned off every layer except zero. The room went quiet for like 5 seconds while I fumbled with my keyboard. What I learned is that my workflow works fine for me, but I never tested it in front of actual strangers. Has anyone else had a public demo go sideways because your file was too personalized? What do you do to prep a file for showing off before a group?
