Switched to a 4-inch trim router for door hinges and wish I did it years ago
I spent the last 3 weeks doing a whole house of new doors in Columbus. First 2 doors I tried with my full size router and it was just too heavy and awkward balancing on that narrow edge. Had a buddy loan me his little Bosch trim router and it was night and day. Made these clean little mortises in like 2 minutes each. The dust collection is terrible on the small one though. Anyone else make the switch and keep a dedicated trim router just for hinges?

Did you have any issues with the collet depth stop slipping on the Bosch? I bought one used and it would creep up on me after a few hinges, had to put a sharpie mark on the threads to keep an eye on it. The smaller base makes it so much easier to ride the hinge edge though, I hear you on that tradeoff. Curious if you tightened down the plunge lock different or just dealt with it.

Nah, mine never budged lol maybe the previous owner cranked it too hard and stripped something.
