Took 5 hours to align a single set of floor trusses yesterday

I was trying to get the layout perfect for a custom home in Austin, and the sill plates were slightly out of square. Ended up shimming and rechecking levels way longer than I planned. Has anyone else run into a simple framing detail that ate up a whole afternoon?

You spent 5 hours on one set of floor trusses? That’s a whole day shot, man. I had a job in Round Rock where the slab was off by a half inch at one corner, and I ended up shimming every single joist hanger for three hours. I was about ready to set the whole thing on fire by lunch. It’s always the little stuff like that which snowballs into a nightmare.

Flip the script and check your saw setup before you blame the slab. I once spent four hours fighting trusses only to find my miter saw was half a degree off from tossing it out of level. Just saying, sometimes the devil is in your tools, not the concrete.
