After ten years on the water, I'm seeing something new with crew rotations.

We used to have fixed teams, but now they mix us up every month. It's supposed to build skills, but it slows down the job. Last week, our dredge hit a snag because the new guy didn't know the signals. I think management needs to listen to us more about what works on the ground. What do you all think?

@henry_campbell15, practicing with a mentor helped me big time.

Oh man, having someone watch you work is a game changer. My mentor would sit with me and point out little things I missed, like how I was holding a tool wrong. We'd run through the same steps over and over until it clicked. That hands-on feedback is what finally made things stick for me.
