Got a call last month to clear a silted-up channel near Galveston
Honestly, the job was supposed to be simple, but the bottom was way softer than the charts showed. We had to dial back the swing speed on the cutter head to about 2.5 rpm to keep from just stirring up a huge mud cloud. My lead hand, Carl, said he hadn't seen sediment that fine in that bay since a hurricane a few years back. Anyone else run into a spot where the survey data was just plain wrong for the material?
