Bought a cheap taping knife set and regretted every penny
I picked up a 4-piece taping knife set from a hardware store in Akron for $18 last month instead of spending the $60 on a good brand. The blades started bending after just two rooms and left ridges I had to sand down for hours. Anyone else learned the hard way that cheap taping knives aren't worth the savings?

Learned that lesson myself a few years back. Honestly it's the same story with everything cheap these days - you think you're saving money but you just end up paying in time and frustration later. Went through three cheap knives in one summer and every single one left those annoying ridges that take forever to sand smooth. Finally dropped the cash on a decent 6-inch blade and it's still going strong after four years. It's like buying cheap shoes or cheap tools - you either pay for quality once or pay for replacements over and over. Ngl sometimes the budget stuff works fine but with taping knives the flex in the metal just ruins everything.

Man that's so true, especially the part about flex in the metal just wrecking everything. Nothing worse than fighting your own tool when you're trying to get a clean finish.
